Las Cruces will use an $11 million allocation from Office of Housing at the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions to help fund six projects across the city that address homelessness and affordable housing needs.

The funding is part of $120 million for housing and homelessness projects across New Mexico beginning in August 2025, announced by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham.

It includes projects from a number of funding sources, including $110 million in general funds appropriated in 2025 to support housing, affordable housing, transitional housing, and the expansion of housing and homelessness programs; $16 million in GRO funds appropriated in 2024 for statewide homelessness initiatives; $5 million in general funds appropriated in 2025 for grants to local governments to support homeless encampment response; and $13 million in capital outlay appropriated in 2025 for statewide housing projects.

The $120 million expenditure is part of $140 million contained in the general fund, Government Results and Opportunity (GRO) Fund and capital outlay appropriations approved by the New Mexico over the past two years for these purposes.
